FilmNation's Aftershock rumbles EFM
FilmNation has seen a stampede of deals for new Eli Roth earthquake thriller Aftershock, with deals struck for UK (StudioCanal), France and Spain (Wild Bunch), Germany (Universum Films), CIS (Top Film), Iceland (Sam Films), Middle East (Italia Film), Turkey (Aqua), Hong Kong (Golden Scene), Indonesia (PT Amero), Malaysia (Dream Movie), Philippines (Multivision), Singapore (Dream Movie), Taiwan (Studio Solution Group), Thailand (M Pictures), Vietnam (Multivision) and South Africa (Ster Kinekor).
US distribs are circling.
Roth produces and stars alongside Selena Gomez and Andrea Osvart in the English-language thriller about a group of friends who must survive the terrifying aftermath of a natural disaster, including the danger of escaped prison convicts.
The film is currently shooting in Chile.
Roth also co-wrote the script with director Nicolas Lopez and Guillermo Amoedo. The former, responsible for Chile’s highest grossing films of 2010 and 2011, was inspired to write the story by his experience of the devastating Chilean earthquake of 2010.
Aftershock marks Roth’s first acting role since Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.
Vertebra Films produces alongside Roth’s Dragonfly Entertainment and Cross Creek Pictures.
